Alone with God

Alone with God

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” — Colossians 2:6–7 (ESV)

“Walking with Jesus is not a one-time event; it is a daily choice to abide in Him, to let His Word dwell richly in us, and to allow the Holy Spirit to shape us moment by moment into His likeness.” — A.W. Tozer (adapted from teachings on abiding in Christ)

Jesus saved me—and I’m forever grateful—but what has truly transformed me into the man I am today (and the man I’m still becoming) is spending time with Him every single day. This isn’t about religious duty; it’s about a real, living relationship with Jesus. He’s completely accessible. He’s not distant or hard to reach—we just have to make time for Him. When I submit daily to His leadership, He sanctifies me, renews my mind, and draws me closer to His heart. This is the relationship I want everyone to experience.

Here’s a simple outline that’s helped me grow so much in my walk with Jesus. It comes from a resource I love from Antioch Church, and I hope it serves you as powerfully as it’s served me.

WORSHIP

Read Psalm 100 and Psalm 96. After reading, write down or say out loud 10 things you’re thankful for. Then listen to one or two worship songs. As you listen, engage with God—sing back to Him truths about His nature you need to remember: He is good, He is alive, He is your healer, He is for you and with you.

WORD

Open to the book of John and read the first two chapters slowly. Pause to circle, highlight, or note any word, phrase, or verse that stands out.

Then journal these three questions:

1. What do these chapters reveal about Jesus?

2. What do they show you about people (yourself and others)?

3. How can you obey something from what you read today?

PRAYER

Pray specifically in these four areas:

- For yourself: Present your body as a living sacrifice and ask God to renew your mind (Romans 12:1–2).

- For those closest to you: Confess sins to one another and pray for healing and breakthrough (James 5:16).

- For church and civic leaders: Pray for them so we can live peaceful, godly lives (1 Timothy 2:1–2).

- For the nations: Ask God to draw people from every tribe, tongue, and nation to worship the Lamb (Revelation 7:9–10).

LISTENING

Prayer isn’t just us talking—it’s a conversation. Like young Samuel said, “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3:10). Take a couple quiet minutes right now to listen. Be still and open your heart for His encouragement, direction, or gentle instruction.

Jesus invites us into daily closeness with Him. Make the time—He’s waiting, and He’s worth it.

Have a great day! Walk with Jesus today, abide in Him, and let Him shape you one step at a time. God bless!
