Don't Lose Heart
“And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.” Luke 18:1
“God does nothing except in answer to believing prayer. Pray continually, and you will see God work mightily. Persistence in prayer is the secret of revival and power.” John Wesley
I needed this reminder today. 2023 was a strange, hard year for me. There were specific things the Lord put on my heart to pray for—big things—and I watched the exact opposite happen. It felt like testing. John 15 came alive: the Father prunes the fruitful branch so it bears even more fruit. I experienced that. But honestly, I lost heart. Loss, disappointment, and discouragement settled in. I stopped persisting in prayer and shut off parts of my heart. That’s not faith.
I’ve heard it said that faith is the currency of heaven. Whether that’s perfectly theological or not, I know this: the Lord delights in faith.
“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6
This week I’m signing back up. I’m opening those closed-off areas of my heart again. That’s faith in action. The world is broken—we will face pain and disappointment—but Jesus is a good Leader. Even when I was faithless, He remained faithful. Today I’m choosing to put my faith and hope fully in Him. I will persist in prayer. I will not lose heart.
If you have something you’re carrying that needs prayer, send it my way—I’d be honored to stand with you.
Have a great day trusting Him and praying without giving up!
