Get In God's Word

Get In God's Word

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

Psalm 119:9-11

“The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible.” — D.L. Moody

I had an encouraging conversation yesterday with a young man about some heavy issues going on in the world today. He was young, but you wouldn’t know it from the wisdom he shared. When we talked about ethics in business, tough moral dilemmas, or simply loving your neighbor, his answers were rooted straight in the Word of God.

You don’t need to be a genius to navigate life’s challenges—you just need to know God’s Word. That’s exactly what Psalm 119 is getting at: purity and victory over sin come from treasuring Scripture in your heart and letting it guide your steps.

I believe we’ve seen a real decline in moral clarity since 1963, when the Supreme Court decisions (like Engel v. Vitale and Abington v. Schempp) effectively removed required Bible reading and prayer from public schools. Since then, we’ve watched immorality rise in so many areas—issues that are deeply negative and divisive.

The answer isn’t more laws or debates; it’s knowing God, knowing His Word, and obeying it. Don’t let sin pull you away from the Bible—or let anything keep the Bible from speaking powerfully into the issues of our day.

I love that Moody quote because it captures the truth so simply. Get into God’s Word today—it’s the best way to guard your heart and live with real wisdom and peace.

Have a great day, everyone—stay rooted in the truth!
