Happy Holiness

“But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’” 1 Peter 1:15-16
“When we understand the holiness of God, then we understand the seriousness of sin.” R.C. Sproul
Why don’t we talk about sin much from the pulpit anymore? I think it’s been hurt by legalism and religion. But Scripture is clear—both Old and New Testament call us to holiness. God hates sin so much that He died to break its power and bring us back into relationship with Him.
Sin should drive us straight to the cross. It shows us what we were saved from. Without Jesus, our sin would separate us from Him forever. But because of His blood, we’re forgiven and secure. We don’t work for salvation—it’s by grace alone.
So how do we live holy?
Cling to Jesus.
Look to the cross.
Remember what He did.
The only truly holy and righteous One was crucified 2,000 years ago. We become holy by applying His blood to our daily sins. That’s why the Lord’s Prayer is so powerful—Jesus taught us to pray, “Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.” On the cross He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
My pastor said it this week: “Forgiven people forgive people.” That’s holiness in action. When we repent daily and forgive daily, the weight lifts. We walk lighter. We sustain revival in our homes and communities.
The call to holiness isn’t a burden—it’s an invitation back into unbroken fellowship with God. We abandon the mindset of “how much can I get away with?” and ask instead, “What more can I give Him?”
Happy holiness.
Fix your eyes on Jesus.
Understand what you’ve been forgiven from.
Repent. Forgive. Walk in the freedom He died to give you.
Give it a try today. You’ll feel the difference.
Have a great day walking holy because He is holy!
