How to Discern Truth
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27
“If you follow Christ, you will have to go against the stream. The world will not love you for it, but the Lord will. Follow Him closely, and let the world's voices fade into silence behind His.” Charles Spurgeon
It’s discouraging to hear so many voices shouting answers to the world’s chaos—news outlets, influencers, podcasts, even well-meaning leaders. But only one voice truly matters. Thank God we don’t have to search for Truth—Truth has a name: Jesus. He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). We don’t follow a man, a movement, a channel, a social media star. We follow Jesus.
When we belong to Him and know Him, we can cut through the lies and noise. In this age of AI, deepfakes, and growing deception, this is more crucial than ever. So how do we discern right from wrong? The Word of God. God never speaks against His own Scripture. If something contradicts the Bible, it’s not from Him.
Hearing God’s voice clearly takes daily discipline—picking up our cross and following the Good Shepherd. It’s not about a three-hour podcast or endless scrolling; it’s about time with Jesus Himself. We all have time—check your screen time if you doubt it. The more we spend with the Shepherd, the clearer His voice becomes amid the world’s clamor.
Professional counterfeit detectors don’t study fakes—they master the real currency so counterfeits stand out instantly. The same is true here. Immerse yourself in the real thing: Jesus and His Word. Get familiar with His voice through Scripture. Then, when deception comes, you’ll recognize it.
I encourage you today: Get in the Word. Spend real time with Jesus. Listen to Him. That’s how we navigate confusion and shine as lights in the darkness.
Have a great day following the one voice that truly matters!
