Kid Rock
“But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:27–2“God delights to use the weak things of the world to confound the mighty. He takes the despised fisherman and makes him a fisher of men. The cross, which men called foolishness, is the wisdom and power of God.” Charles Spurgeon
This weekend at church, the speaker reminded us how Jesus built His church on Peter—a zealous, immature follower who denied Him three times. Peter didn’t act like a “rock.” Yet God chose him, shaped him, and used him to turn the world upside down.
I’m so thankful God uses weak, broken people to advance the gospel. Watching the alternative halftime show with Kid Rock brought this home. A man with a rough past boldly proclaimed Jesus to 6.1 million viewers. Earlier, on Joe Rogan’s show, Rogan asked:
Rogan: “Do you think there’s a real Jesus?”
Kid Rock: “Absolutely. One thousand percent.”
Rogan: “What makes you convinced?”
Kid Rock: “My faith.”
I’m not saying Kid Rock is a perfect example to follow, but he unashamedly declared faith in Jesus on a massive platform. It reminded me of Peter—someone from a secular world who encountered Jesus, stumbled, and then helped spread the gospel everywhere.
I’m praying God uses anyone He wants—broken fishermen, rock stars, you, me—to turn this world toward Jesus. I don’t care how it happens or who He uses, as long as Jesus gets all the glory.
Let’s go make Jesus known today—weakness and all. He’s still choosing the foolish things to shame the wise.
Have a great day living for the One who redeems the broken!
