Light In The Darkness

Light In The Darkness

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. In the midst of a world shadowed by evil and despair, Christ’s light endures—unbroken, undimmed. It is our calling to bear that light, even when the darkness presses hardest.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer

On the plane to Nashville during Mardi Gras week, I saw someone decked out in what was clearly voodoo gear. I’m not gonna lie—it creeped me out a little. The darkness felt thick and obvious.

Then this verse came to mind. We carry the light of Christ. The darkness can rage all it wants, but it has no power over the light. When we walk in that light, we actually change the atmosphere around us.

The darkness is loud right now. Everyone’s screaming for justice—I get it, I really do. But Jesus is the only truly just One. He will bring real justice. Our job isn’t to add to the shouting or fight darkness with more darkness. Our job is to bring light into it.

Let’s shine today. Share with someone how you encountered the light—how Jesus broke through your own darkness. That’s what pushes back the night.

Facebook rants against evil don’t dispel darkness. Shining the light does.

Go be light for someone today.

Have a great day carrying the One who has already won.
