Making Disciples

Making Disciples

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” John 8:31-32

“The Bible is not just a book to be read once; it is the living voice of God that we must return to daily. Disciples are made mature by letting Scripture dwell in them richly, so that they know Christ deeply and obey Him fully. There is no shortcut to maturity apart from the Word.” John Piper

I keep coming back to Jesus’ last command: go make disciples of all nations. After 11 years of trying to figure out how to do that well, one thing stands out: discipleship isn’t a program or a curriculum—it’s relationship. Relationship with Jesus first, then relationship with others.

How do we build that relationship? Jesus said it plainly: abide in my word. Stay in it. Live in it. When we do, we come to know the truth in a world drowning in lies. And that truth sets us free.

The best thing we can do for ourselves and for others is read the Bible and help others do the same. Abide in His word. Become a true disciple. Know the truth. Be set free.

So many people around us aren’t free. They’re carrying depression, anxiety, fear—things I’ve wrestled with too. The answer isn’t a better self-help book or louder opinions. It’s the truth found in Scripture.

Make disciples by pointing people to the Word. Help them abide in it. Let the truth do its work. That’s how we change the world—one person at a time.

Read the Word today. Teach someone else to do the same. That’s how disciples are made.

Have a great day abiding in the truth!
