Reasoning from the Scriptures

“And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, ‘This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.’ And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas…”
— Acts 17:2–4
“I want to know one thing—the way to heaven… God Himself has condescended to teach the way… He has written it down in a book. O give me that book!” — John Wesley
The Word of God is everything.
In a world full of confusion, opinions, and religious noise, we don’t need more ideas—we need truth. And truth is found in Scripture.
Paul didn’t rely on clever arguments or personal opinions. He reasoned from the Scriptures. He explained them. He proved them. And because of that—people believed.
Here’s the reality:
It’s hard to share something you don’t understand yourself.
Many Christians rely on sermons, devotionals, or someone else’s teaching—but rarely open the Bible for themselves. It’s no surprise that so few consistently share their faith.
We pray for the world to change…
We pray for people to come to Christ…
But it starts here:
Knowing what Christ actually said.
When you get in the Word daily, something shifts:
- Your confidence grows
- Your understanding deepens
- Your boldness increases
And sharing your faith becomes natural.
So don’t just rely on what you hear once a week.
Open the Word yourself. Read it. Study it. Let it shape you.
Then go and share it.
That’s what the apostles did—and they turned the world upside down.
Let’s do the same.
