Remembering the Gospel

Remembering the Gospel

“And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.” Colossians 1:21-23

“The gospel is the power of God for salvation. I must preach it to myself every day, for I forget it daily. It is the one thing that crushes the devil and sets the captive free.” Martin Luther

Remembering what I was saved from wrecks me—in the best way. Suddenly, the trivial “challenges” of life don’t feel so heavy. I was once alienated from God, hostile in mind, doing evil deeds. He rescued me. He reconciled me through Christ’s body and death, to present me holy, blameless, and above reproach before Him.

I’m so thankful for the gospel. It is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). We can never shift from this reality: God created the world perfect, we messed it up, He made a way through Jesus. If we repent, believe, and follow Him—without drifting from the hope of the gospel—everything changes.

When I remember the gospel, my problems shrink and my gratitude grows. This morning I’m overwhelmed with thanks: Jesus saved me. This is the most important thing. I want to know the gospel deeply, remember it daily, teach it to my kids, and share it with others. Everything else flows from this truth.

Remember what God saved you from. Cling to the hope of the gospel. Share it with someone today.

Have a great day living in the power of what Christ has done!
