Renew Your Mind

Renew Your Mind

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 (ESV)

“The mind is a battleground. Either it will be conformed to the pattern of this world or transformed by the renewing of the mind through the Word of God. There is no neutral ground. Let Scripture be the lens through which you view everything.” R.C. Sproul

Last night at youth group, a young lady shared how she overcame negative thoughts. Her answer? A real relationship with Jesus and daily application of God’s Word. We live in a broken world—negative thoughts, toxic social media, and broken people surround us constantly. The way to tune out the flesh is by renewing our minds.

We can’t renew our minds if we don’t know God’s will. That will is found in His Word. Simply reading it isn’t enough—we have to let it sink deep into our hearts and change us.

Every morning I use the SOAP method to let Scripture shape me:

- Scripture – I pray first and ask the Lord to speak.

- Observation – I read carefully, noting what it meant in its original context (a good study Bible helps).

- Application – I write down a specific action step to obey.

- Prayer – I pray that truth over my life.

Daily sitting at Jesus’ feet and letting His Word transform us is how we discern God’s will. If you’re struggling to know what God wants for your life, start here: get in the Bible, observe it, act on it, and pray for transformation.

Give SOAP a try. Let’s renew our minds today with God’s Word.

Have a great day being transformed!
