Speak Life

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29
“Our words are not our own they belong to God. Ephesians 4:29 forbids corrupting talk and commands speech that builds up and gives grace. The Christian’s mouth is to be an instrument of edification, not destruction. Speak as one who will give an account, and let your words reflect the grace you have received.” R.C. Sproul
Spend five minutes online and you’ll see it negative talk is everywhere. It’s easy to jump in. Someone told me a study says 80% of our thoughts are negative. As Christians we have a chance to push back against that with the Holy Spirit’s help. I can’t do it on my own. I need Jesus.
Instead of letting corrupt talk come out, we can speak life. Call out who people are in Christ. That’s one of the simplest ways to shine light in the darkness. In a world full of criticism and division, an encouraging word stands out.
Go build someone up today.
Go encourage someone.
Spend less time online and more time face-to-face getting to know people.
Give it a try. You’ll be surprised how much grace you can give—and how much it comes back to you.
Have a great day speaking life!
