Talk About Sin

Talk About Sin

“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2

“Sin does not just break God’s law — it breaks our relationship with God.”

This morning I felt a little callous. I was just going through the motions in my time with the Lord.

But as I began to thank God, I remembered what my life was like before Jesus. I was on a path of death and destruction. Sin was ruling me. I was separated from God.

Then it hit me: What Jesus did on the cross 2,000 years ago was a personal rescue mission — for me and for all of humanity. What an incredible reason to be thankful!

I wonder… is this why so much of the church and the world feels apathetic toward Jesus? Do we truly realize the path of destruction we were on without Him?

When we stop talking about sin, we stop seeing our need for a Savior. But the moment I remembered what I was saved from, my heart came alive. I wept with joy and gratitude.

The brokenness we see all around us — suicide, depression, anxiety, emptiness — is largely the result of sin and separation from God. People are drowning, and many don’t even know it.

If they don’t realize they’re sinking, why would they cry out to be saved?

The good news is this: Jesus came to save us.

Let’s remember what He rescued us from.

Let’s share that hope with others.

Today, throw someone a lifeline. Tell them the Good News.
