We Must Obey God Rather Than Men

“But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.’”
— Acts 5:29 (ESV)
“We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer
The early church was marked by bold obedience to God — even when it meant defying the government.
They didn’t hide. They went out into the streets, brought the sick and oppressed to the apostles, and saw them healed by the power of God.
In 2020, when the world was full of fear, sickness, depression, and hopelessness, most of the church shut its doors and moved online. That was one of the greatest missed opportunities for impact in our lifetime.
We need the boldness of the Book of Acts again — not weak-kneed obedience to government overreach.
My prayer is that a generation of young men (and women) would rise up with holy boldness:
men and women who refuse to bow to evil, who push back against injustice, and who shine as salt and light in a dark world.
I want to be the spoke in the wheel of injustice.
I choose to obey God rather than man.
Church, it’s time to rise.
We don’t need more comfort — we need Book of Acts power.
When the church walks in that kind of boldness and obedience to God, the world will once again see the Gospel preached with power, the sick healed, and believers added to the church daily.
Let it be so, Lord.
