Know and Believe

Know and Believe

"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations." — Deuteronomy 7:9

In 1607, Robert Hunt prayed with great faith:

“We do hereby dedicate this land (America) and ourselves to reach the people within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to raise up godly generations after us, and through these generations, take the Kingdom of God to all the earth.”

God faithfully remembers His promises. This prayer from the first settlers, dedicating themselves and this land to the gospel and to be a light to the nations, is a promise God will keep.

The Scriptures remind us:

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14

As a nation, we have strayed from His ways. Yet, if we humble ourselves, pray, and turn from sin, God will remember His promise to this land. God is unchanging and faithful.

As we approach the 250th year of this nation, let us pray for humility and repentance. America was founded to receive the gospel and to be a source of light to the nations. Let us hold fast to God’s promises. He always remembers.

Pray with me today that we would seek God’s face earnestly and that He would pour out His Spirit upon us.

It is never too late. Do not lose hope. Let us stand in faith and pray for America. God is faithful to keep His promises.
