Normal Life

Normal Life

“And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.”

— Acts 6:8

“Stephen is a regular guy, a normal Christian, a member of the church… He’s just a run-of-the-mill, regular, godly church member. But because he’s full of God’s Spirit, he walks in power.”

There are no “more holy” or “more important” jobs in the Kingdom of God.

I love that the Book of Acts gives us Stephen as an example. He wasn’t preaching on a platform or leading a big ministry at first — he was serving tables. Yet he did his ordinary job with such faith and dependence on the Holy Spirit that God’s power flowed through him.

That should be us.

When the Lord called me to missions, I spent the first two years working in maintenance and the next two years in the kitchen. Those “ordinary” jobs taught me a powerful lesson: There are no insignificant roles in God’s Kingdom.

Whatever you do today — whether at work, school, home, or church — do it with all your heart. Bring Jesus into your everyday tasks. Work hard as unto the Lord.

Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Have a great day at work or at school.

Be like Stephen today — full of grace and power, doing great wonders and signs among the people in your everyday world.
