Ruling Your Spirit in a Chaotic World

“Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”
— Proverbs 16:32 (ESV)
“Never make a decision out of fear or comfort.”
— Victor Marx
We live in a world filled with pressure, anxiety, depression, and fear. Many people cope by staying busy, checking out, or letting their emotions and circumstances dictate their decisions.
But there’s a better way.
The good news is we don’t have to fight this battle alone.
Jesus promised in Acts 1:8:
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…”
When I try to handle life in my own strength, I quickly become frustrated, overwhelmed, and quick to anger. It’s a major weakness in my armor.
But when I slow down, take a step back, and rely on the Holy Spirit, everything changes.
I become slow to anger.
I’m able to rule my spirit.
And I stop making decisions out of fear or comfort.
That’s why being filled with the Holy Spirit is not optional — it’s essential.
A famous evangelist was once asked why he kept emphasizing the need to be filled with the Spirit every day. His simple answer?
“Because I leak.”
This is why sitting at the feet of Jesus daily is so vital.
Even this morning, with everything I have going on and all the pressure I feel, I had a choice: give in to the stress or get filled with the Holy Spirit. I chose the latter.
That’s how we overcome.
That’s how we walk in peace and strength in the middle of chaos.
Get filled with the Holy Spirit today.
You will be glad you did.
