The Holy Spirit Poured Out on All Flesh

The Holy Spirit Poured Out on All Flesh

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.”  — Acts 2:17-18

“God does not give all His gifts to one man, but distributes them among many, that no one may boast and all may depend on one another.”  — Charles Spurgeon

I’ve always leaned toward more traditional views — that men should be the primary spiritual leaders in the church. But I’ve been challenged lately to let Scripture, not tradition, shape what I believe.

Galatians 3:28 says it clearly:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

The Holy Spirit is not limited by age, gender, or status.

He was poured out on all flesh — sons and daughters, young and old, male and female servants. The same Spirit that empowered the apostles can work powerfully through anyone He chooses.

This week at church, I was reminded that God can speak through a woman, a child, or even the most unlikely person. My own two-year-old daughter has seen someone healed while under the presence of the Holy Spirit. If God can use a donkey in the Bible, He can certainly use any of us.

This truth should produce humility in all of us.

It’s not about me. It’s not about tradition. It’s about Jesus and the freedom of the Holy Spirit to move through whomever He wants.

Lord, help me walk in humility today. Help me be quick to receive from anyone You choose to speak through — because we are all one in Christ.

Let’s lay down our pride, honor the Holy Spirit’s work in every believer, and see each other as brothers and sisters in Him.
